Recreation

Expansion of recreation activity connects with the problem of continuous correlation search between mastering of natural resources and preservation of their quality.

For being district distribution, Kyiv enters to Dniprovsko-Dnestrovskii recreation region. Within the town there are 17 sanatoriums and holiday hospitals, balneological hospitals, 5 houses and recreation holiday hotels, numerous recreation bases and camps for children rest. The most health-resort localities are Koncha-Zaspa and Puscha-Vodycya.On the town territory there are the considerable number of natural and artificial forest-parks and parks. They are Golosyiivskii, Svyatoshinskii parks, the forest-park on the Exhibitions and Fair Center territory, Central Glory park (unites 5 parks, disposed along the Dnipro river), Victory park, Pushkin park Shevchenko park, Hydro-park and others. A total area of green zone is 43,6 thousand hectares.

The State does not have time to create the new recreation zones, and the needs permanently increase, occasioning pressures on recreation resources.

Today a situation in the town forests and its suburbs testifies that a main threat to their preservation is made by irregular recreation pressure (specially into warm year period ), including without permission arrival of private motor transport to woodsy and, frequently, protected allotments.

The green zones are the centres of vital activity of great number of animals’ kinds and vegetable groupments. That's why recreation pressure negatively influences on biological diversity in towns. For example, in tie with Golosiyivskii forest use for recreation purposes during late years a few species of predatory birds vanished, and the number of others considerably decreased.

The dumps of consumer and building refuse in recreation zones without permission has an impending scales.
