Current natural protective
practice that traditionally is based on some
reserve units building, sometimes is not
effective. The reserve units themselves, to
regret, can not support the most part of
protected species, because their territory for
this is very small. Now there are not methods
that allow to define the minimum areas of
reserve unit from ecological system viability
point of view.
One of the ways of animal
diversity is in construction of "
ecological network". This network could
envelope reserve territories and parks in Kyiv
and behind it. It could be an ideal one for
management of species populations capable to
self-renovation. This approach coincides with
the main direction of "European biological
and landscape diversity protection
strategy". In the measures plan for
1996-2000 the question as for formation of
European ecological network is the first
one.
Thus, we can formulate base
principles for animal world protection in the
urban landscape that is Kyiv.
1. The ecological network
formation as systems of associated and
quasi-natural biological biotopes.
2. Inclusion of natural
protective plans into social and economic
context of national, regional and departmental
plans.
3.Regard for global context as
for different species so for biotopes.
Some from these principles are
already declared in Ukraine in legislative
documents, others are not. According to this it
is necessary to underline the propaganda
importance and implement of these documents in
the nature protective and economic activity.
Ecological education and
population culture is of importance while
solving the municipal bio-diversity protection
problem.
